Bosch Sales Manager Claudia Wasko Leaves for US
REUTLINGEN, Germany – Next March Bosch eBike Systems sales and service manager Claudia Wasko will move to the United States. Here she is to manage the newly founded Bosch eBike Systems North America.
Already in 2012 several Bosch eBike managers were at America’s leading bicycle show Interbike in Las Vegas. In those days they wanted to ‘taste’ the Northern American markets. Next to that the Bosch people were interested in the legal requirements for e-bikes and pedelecs as most electric bikes being sold here are throttle operated.
One year later – at Interbike 2013 – already e-bikes were on display with especially for the US market designed Bosch e-bike drive trains. The exhibited bikes came from BH, Felt, Haibike and Kreidler which are planned to enter the US market in the first quarter of 2014. However, this could be delayed as Bosch struggles with delivery problems with lead times running up to 8 months.
The Bosch equipped e-bikes and/or pedelecs for the North American markets feature the company’s Performance Line drive trains including board computer Intuvia and frame-mounted battery pack PowerPack 400. The drive-unit brings the American e-bikes to a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h).
Appropriate after sales service
At Interbike 2013 Bosch eBike Systems MD Claus Fleischer told Bike Europe that Bosch customers are asking more and more for an e-bike kit designed for the US market. “Beginning 2014 we can deliver them together with the appropriate after sales service for IBDs in the North American markets.”
In view of that Claudia Wasko – knowing the Bosch e-bike business since its start – is to lead the new North-American business unit. She and her team are confident e-bikes and pedelecs will also become a success story in Northern America. At the time of writing there was no information on a successor of Wasko at the company headquarters of Bosch eBike Systems in Reutlingen.
