Hostettler AG Mourns for Loss of Fritz Hostettler
SURSEE, Switzerland – The country’s largest two-wheeler wholesaler and importer, Hostettler AG, mourns for the loss of company co-founder and honorary President Fritz Hostettler.
The 80 years old company vet passed away on 20 December 2013. Fritz Hostettler was born in a Swiss two-wheeler dynasty. His grandfather founded a bicycle and motorbike shop in 1906. Together with his brothers Otto, Alfred und Ruedi Fritz founded Hostettler AG in 1966. This laid the basis for today’s company structure. In 1968 they took over the exclusive distribution of Yamaha motorcycles.
Consultant and honoree president
Moreover the four brothers diversified into new business sectors but always with the focus on two and four wheelers. Today a total of seven independent subsidiaries import, distribute and produce two- and four-wheel products. Hostettler’s bicycle business is in the hands of Intercycle, the country’s largest bicycle wholesaler and importer.
In 2010 Fritz Hostettler resigned as chairman of the board of directors. Until then he was no more involved in the daily business but acted still as company consultant and honoree president. Today’s general manager of Hostettler Group and Intercycle is his son Peter Hostettler.
