LEV Charging Interface Released by EnergyBus
MERSEBURG, Germany – Thanks to the effort of the ‘JTF Energy Management Systems’ working group EnergyBus developed a new version of the communication interface standard. The ceremonial release of Version 2.0 took place earlier this month at the head office of EnergyBus partner emtas GmbH.
With the release of Version 2.0 of the CiA 454 open communications standard, the EnergyBus Association and CAN in Automation e.V. have committed themselves that all future developments will be compatible with previous version. For example the latest USB ports will still function with older types.
Hannes Neupert (Executive Director of EnergyBus) explained: “With the release of CiA 454 nothing prevents the widespread rollout of charging and locking infrastructure for Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs). The market is now also open for parking space management using EnergyBus.”
“Rental systems need no longer need to be tied to a single manufacturer. Vehicle suppliers can be changed, or fleets extended to better serve the needs of users, without the investment in a complete new charging infrastructure. CiA 454 will apply for the next ten of even twenty years making it safer to invest in LEV products.”
“It is now up to the market”
Holger Zeltwanger, Chairman of CAN in Automation, added: “We have done our homework: the rest is now up to the market to develop new products. It’s an open system: now people just need to use it.”
