Asia Bike Organizer Knut Jaeger Dies
HONGKONG, China – He was still full of ambition and working hard on the next editions of the Asia Bike and Asia Outdoor shows; the in China held trade fairs organized by Messe Friedrichshafen. Knut Jaeger was not able to finish his work as the co-founder of these shows suddenly died last weekend at the age of 72.
Knut Jaeger died of a heart attack on January 31, 2015 in Hongkong. Before getting into the organization of shows he built his own outdoor company called Big Pack which enabled him to establish good contacts in China. After selling Big Pack to French Lafuma Group he built a new business based on these contacts.
Opening up Chinese market
Over 20 years ago Knut Jaeger was co-founder of Eurobike’s sister show OutDoor in Friedrichshafen. With the help and support of Messe Friedrichshafen the outdoor industry veteran founded the Asia Outdoor show in Nanjing in 2005. Asia Bike was founded later. Knut Jaeger more or less opened up the Chinese market for Messe Friedrichshafen.
When the agonizing news from China reached Messe Friedrichshafen, “Jaeger’s death profoundly saddened the entire team,” is noted in a press release by Messe Friedrichshafen. The international outdoor and bicycle industries loses in him an outstanding personality that never thought about retirement.
