Spanninga Takes Over Philips Lighting Assets
JOURE, the Netherlands – The Spanninga Group has taken over the assets involving the Philips bicycle lighting products. Spanninga will not market Philips-branded lighting products, but will use the assets to strengthen its own line-up.
Philips started to manufacture and distribute bicycle lighting products in December 2009. Some five year later the electronics giant pulled the plug and stopped this activity. Philips signed an asset deal with the Spanninga Group that became effective March 26, 2015.

Production of the former Philips branded products will be moved to Spanninga’s production location in China; Spanninga Bicycle Components Foshan Ltd. Which former Philips products are to produced here is not finalized yet while the same goes for the design of these lighting components. Spanninga Group is close to a century (the company was established in 1918) making bicycle components.
