Tubus Obtains Minority Share in Cycling Bag Manufacturer
MÜNSTER, Germany – Following the takeover of the fender brand Wingee last October, Tubus carrier systems recently announced the acquisition of 33 percent of the shares of Becatex GmbH.
Based in the German cities Bielefeld and Hövelhof, Becatex GmbH is a bag manufacturer which developed and produced mainly heavy-duty bags for emergency services. “The Becatex production will be dedicated completely to the Racktime branded pannier range,” says Tubus COO Ditmar Slik. “In addition to 25 years of experience in the manufacturing of bags Becatex contributes extensively to the knowledge of sustainable textile production.”
Racktime is Tubus’ second brand of carriers on the market. As a result of the investment in Becatex the company announced on its website that: “all Racktime bags which were previously exclusively distributed under license by Ortlieb Sportartikel GmbH will be discontinued by the end of 2015. Unfortunately, Tubus carrier systems GmbH has no information on the availability of these models.”
