Specs and Prices Announced for Abus’ Speed E-Bike Helmet


DOETINCHEM, the Netherlands – Pedelec + is the name of the new speed e-bike helmet by Abus. The company has announced the specifications and price of this new helmet. As from January 1, 2017 wearing a helmet on a speed e-bike will become mandatory in many EU countries.

With the type-approval regulations coming into force for speed e-bikes (also named speed pedelecs) wearing a helmet becomes obligatory in many EU countries per January 1, 2017. Mandatory helmet use depends on specific legislation related to mopeds individual EU member states hold.

 Special start-packages for retailers

In week 7 of 2017 the new speed e-bike from Abus will become available including special start-packages for retailers.

In the past months, after an intensive period of testing Abus developed its speed e-bike helmet that meets the new NTA 8776 standard.

The Abus pedelec + helmet is stronger and safer compared to a regular bicycle helmet. For that it features an EPS shock absorption layer which is thicker than on standard bike helmets.

Specifications and price

The Pedelec + helmet comes with a LED taillight, integrated rain cover and Fidlock magnetic chinstrap. Pedelec + is available in three colors, Black Edition, Silver Edition and Blue Edition, in sizes M (52-57 cm) and L (56-62 cm). Recommended retail price stands at € 139.95 incl. VAT.
