Shimano to Open 3rd Distribution Center in Europe
LYON, France – Shimano has announced plans to open a new distribution center to enhance its service to French and Italian customers. This new shipping and logistics base will be located close to the French city of Lyon.
Lyon will be the third distribution center for Shimano in Europe joining Nunspeet in the Netherlands and Poznań in Poland. For the Turkish market Shimano operates a separate distribution warehouse in Istanbul.
Serving customers in France and Italy
In a press release Shimano Europe points out that, “Lyon will serve our customers in France and Italy with the rapid delivery of bike parts and accessories from Shimano brands including PRO bike parts & accessories, Pearl Izumi clothing, Lazer helmets and our agencies.
Aad Ramondt, Shimano’s Director Supply Chain said, “With the continued growth of Shimano in Europe and our dedication to provide customers with the best possible service, the new distribution center is part of our strategy to accelerate business in France and Italy.
“The new location in the Lyon area will bring us closer to customers, enabling us to offer faster deliveries and, together with our retail partners, allowing us to be more responsive to local needs and the demands of bicycle consumers,” Aad Ramondt stated. “This move reinforces our commitment to the growth of Shimano in France and Italy. Furthermore this supports our mission to help millions of cycling enthusiasts to enjoy nature and the world around them.”
Shimano will work in partnership with global supply chain solutions company XPO Logistics in the creation of the Lyon distribution center. It is expected to be operational from January 2017.
