“OEM partners prefer complete system solutions today,” says Jack Brandsen, GM Bafang Europe. “It became crucial to offer this option as well, besides the flexible approach Bafang is providing.”

Various battery options

Brandsen confirms that Bafang is currently developing various battery options besides the rack type battery which is already available for the Max Drive system. “Two versions for downtube integrated batteries as well as a standard external version which also offers semi-integrated design options. Two different core packs, which are assembled on an automated production line, will provide customers with multiple design opportunities for outer shapes and proportions to meet individual requirements and needs.”

Moving to higher volumes and value segments

The over 10 million euro strategic investments is a clear sign to the future position Bafang as a supplier of e-drivetrain as well as batteries in the middle and higher segments of the e-bike market. And a market that’s still on the move, states Brandsen “With more than 850.000 e-bike motor systems delivered globally in 2016, Bafang is clearly on its way to move into the higher volume and value segments. Part of this growth is the result of the excellent acceptance of the Max Drive mid-motor system among others. As mid motors are the preferred system for the major markets in Europe the focus on new versions is clearly set. Currently two new variations of the Max Drive, the Ultra Drive and the Modest Drive are being offered.”

Service tool

At Taipei Cycle Bafang will show its BESST service tool which is a part of the company’s greater service strategy for European OEMs and retail partners. Jack Brandsen “This ‘Bafang E-Mobility Sales & Service Tool’ is a very decisive and differentiating element of our service philosophy.”

Bafang’s booth number at Taipei Cycle is L-1012 at Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, 4th floor.
