Yamaha Introduces New and Connected PW SE Standard Motor
IWATA, Japan – Yamaha will launch a new mid-motor at Eurobike which belongs to the PW series. It’s named PW SE and is to become Yamaha’s new standard model featuring, among other new functions, Bluetooth connectivity.
According to Yamaha “The PW series SE inherits all the popular features of the first-generation PW series and then expands the pleasure of riding from streets to fields to become Yamaha’s new standard model. The supported cadence has been raised from 100 rpm to 110 rpm, and the model now features Bluetooth® connectivity so that it can be combined with a Compact multi-function meter.”
Also for e-MTB’s
As Yamaha states “Expanding the pleasure of riding from streets to fields” clearly means that the new PW series SE is also suited for e-MTB’s. A maximum torque of 70 Nm offers the required power for off road usage. The 250W mid-motor weighs 3.5 kg and offers pedal power assistance up to 25km/h meaning that models fitted with the PW SE motor are bicycles with no need for type approval.
Yamaha further mentions on this new PW motor that it offers “smooth and powerful” pedal assistance thanks to its triple sensor system. The three sensors are (1) a torque sensor that detects pedalling power, (2) a speed sensor that detects the bicycle’s speed, and (3) a crank sensor that detects the number of rotations through pedalling. “Thanks to these three sensors, the system is able to offer the rider continuous assistance under all riding conditions,” claims Yamaha. The power assistance can be tuned to four modes.
