Speedliner Mobility Acquires Insolvent Bicycle Maker Euro-Bike


ZERBST, Germany – The future of the bicycle manufacturer Euro-Bike has been secured with the take-over by the Bremen based Speedliner Mobility AG. “Speedliner has presented the most convincing concept and as industry insider we see them as the best possible partner,” says administrator Dr Christian Heintze of BBL Bernsau Brockdorff.

Euro-Bike was manufacturer of niche brands like Schindelhauer, Rothwild, Coboc and Nikolai. The company got into financial trouble last July when as one of its main contractors surprisingly cancelled a long-term assembly contract, as Bike Europe reported earlier.

Substantial investments

A seven-digit investment in Euro-Bike has been announced by Speedliner Mobility managing director Werner Schaar in the newspaper MDR Sachsen-Anhalt. According to the newspaper report “this investment includes a new assembly line to optimize the production process.” The company expects an output of some 1,000 cargo bikes next year.

Speedliner is mainly involved in the market for cargo bikes which is currently experiencing strong growth. In Germany the company is one of the leading manufacturers in this market.

Speedliner production to Zerbst

The Euro-Bike operation will continue on the same location in Zerbst and the take-over includes all existing jobs. “The Euro-Bike staff is well qualified and highly motivated,” says administrator Heintze. “The company’s existing know-how was a key factor in Speedliner’s decision to invest in Euro-Bike. I especially welcome the fact that Speedliner will not only continue the assembly of bicycles for end customers, but also wants to expand its production.”

“In the future, also the Speedliner bicycles will be produced on this location. Thanks to this investor with its profound industry experience, Euro-Bike has an excellent position and future capability in a challenging market environment,” Heintze emphasises.
