Spanninga Is Turning 100; Call for Celebrations
JOURE, the Netherlands – Founded in 1918, the company has always been family-run. With its HQ in Joure, the Netherlands Spanninga was originally a jewellery goldsmith. Its birth in the bicycle industry came a decade later with the first metal automotive lights.
That Spanninga was an exceptional goldsmith was quickly discovered; even by Royals! The quality and refinement of Spanninga’s work was rewarded by the distinguished title of ‘Purveyor of the Royal Household of the Netherlands” within four years, an honour which the company is still enjoying almost a century later.
Since its entrance in the bicycle sector, Spanninga’s goal has been to upgrade cyclists’ safety to a new level. For that pioneering technologies were incorporated like silver plated optical blocs, as well as bicycle rear lights with patented bayonet fittings. All this has culminated into ‘state of the art’ bike lighting with the best optics combined with the latest COB LED and laser technology.
For that Spanninga crossed the Dutch borders with the acquisition of several subsidiaries in Europe and in Asia, making the Spanninga Group nowadays a world leader in bicycle safety.
Commemorating the milestone
Throughout 2018, Spanninga will celebrate the occasion, from the many milestones achieved over the previous 100 years, to the future and achieving its vision of pioneering safety. Of course the company’s booth at Eurobike (B4-212) will also commemorate the milestone. Next to its 100-year heritage the company will also show here that it will continue to pioneer safety. For the next 100 years.
