ProNordic initially started six years ago in Kunshan, China, just outside Shanghai, to produce quality e-bikes for dealers in the Nordic countries. Today the company also exports e-bikes from the Kunshan factory to other markets as Australia, UK and USA.

“It has been crucial to be close to the suppliers in China to create a good relationships, to build quality products and for innovative product development. For now we are excited to offer that within Europe with shorter lead-times and stronger after-sales service,” says Martin Walleräng. “It is our core business to control the manufacturing process from the start till the end. Thanks to growing sales we decided to increase our production capacity. However, the ongoing investigation on e-bike price dumping might become problematic for all companies producing in China and exporting to the European Union.”

Rapid decision on production in Europe

“We needed to take a fast decision where in Europe to expand in the middle of the season, which is never easy”, explains ProNordic Group CEO Mårten Nydahl. “We believe and support free trade and a level playing field in all markets. With our brand-new factory we can continue to deliver high quality electric mobility solutions for our growing customers base. The global bike business differs from county to country and with our two factories we can offer highly efficient manufacturing specialized on local market conditions.

The two facilities operate independently within the group and run their own business. The ProNordic Group also includes EcoRide, one of the leading Nordic e-bike brands and Walleräng Modular, a premium e-bike brand. Thanks to the Nordic design, its smart and easy modular system, Walleräng Modular as a brand sells worldwide. “We are now integrating all our activities one company, the ProNordic Group, and are ready to take next step for further expansion”, says Mårten Nydahl.
