Halfords and Brompton Team Up
REDDITCH, UK – Halfords Group plc and Brompton Bicycle, the world-famous manufacturer of the iconic folding bike, announced the Brompton bike will be available across the Halfords group via 21 Cycle Republic stores, including via click and collect.
Also revealed is the fact that Brompton bikes will be rolled out across two Tredz stores in November, along with a dedicated Brompton mini-store within the popular Manchester Piccadilly branch of the Cycle Republic chain, which is due to open in December. And perhaps most surprising of all, from April 2019 Brompton will also be available in select Halfords stores.
‘Long-term strategic partnership’
The arrangement is described as “A long-term strategic partnership to continue to get the nation cycling” by aiming to “Convert commuters and motorists, as well as those who’ve not ridden in years – to switch to pedal power in cities.”
Crucially the partnership will also make Brompton bikes more accessible to employees of British businesses through the government tax-free cycling schemes.
Brompton bikes are manufactured in their own factory in London and sold in 47 countries around the world, with over 75% of production exported. Halfords describes itself as “The UK’s leading retailer of cycling and motoring products and services with a 126 year history, operating with 452 Halfords shops and 24 Performance cycling stores.”
