Peugeot’s Vision on Future Urban Mobility With P2X Concept

PARIS, France – Peugeot Motocycles gave insight into its future urban mobility product range at the Mondial de la Moto show which took place in Paris from 4 to 14 October. Presented as the ‘motorcycle for the city’ this new P2X concept goes much further than the currently available scooters. It takes the French company back to its motorcycle history.

The motorcycle comeback underlines that with an eye on urban mobility Peugeot is not only thinking about e-mobility. According to Peugeot Motorcycles “Motorbikes represent 50 percent of the (motorized ed.) two-wheeler market in Europe, 30 percent of which having medium-sized engines of less than 400 cc. We aim to play a key role in the segment of urban mobility in both Europe and Asia.”

For Peugeot Motocycles’ Head of Design Department Damien Basset “Bringing back Peugeot Motocycles to the world of motorcycles is giving even more emotion to the design mission that is entrusted to me by this 120 years old French company. In accordance with the Peugeot styling charter and in collaboration with the teams of Gilles Vidal, Director of Design at Peugeot, we have paid immense attention to the proportions of this city bike and studied every millimeter of the surface. P2X is the new Peugeot motorcycle”, Basset assured.

‘Efficient Urban Light Vehicle’

Peugeot’s announcement of a new motorcycle range looks like a step back in time after the presentation last year of the (four-wheeled) e-mobility solution ‘EU-LIVE’ (Efficient Urban Light Vehicle).

This electrified mobility solution is supported by the European Commission and was presented in 2017 by a consortium in which Peugeot participates. Peugeot Motocycles operates as a subsidiary of Indian manufacturer Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. that owns 51% of Peugeot Motocycles since 2015. PSA Group owns 49% of Peugeot Motocycles. Mahindra Two Wheelers is a subsidiary of Indian carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The P2X concept bike is available in two versions: a 125cc Roadster with modern design and neo-retro elements, and a radical 300cc Cafe-Racer that embodies the colors of Peugeot Sport.

The design of the P2X Roadster combines a contemporary design that is sublimated by the references to the heritage of the Peugeot motorcycle ‘P515’ model, with its blue color and brown leather seat. The ‘Legend’ Peugeot Motocycles logo and the white-chromed rims complete the heritage codes.
