New Brompton Store in West London Signals Continued Company Expansion
LONDON, UK – April 2019 will see the opening of a new Brompton folding bike store in Westfield London. It will join Brompton’s growing network of global Brompton Junction branded stores already established in central London, Spain, Italy, USA, Netherlands, Germany, Israel, Japan, China and Singapore.
“Interactive bike build facilities and a live demo area”, are promised at the Westfield store which is housed in a large shopping mall that recently saw a GBP 600 million (700 euro million) expansion take place.
The new shop also promises Brompton’s first e-bike hire scheme in the UK and to commemorate the opening of the new store, a new special edition Brompton W12 edition will be launched, available only from the London Westfield store. There will also be a Drop and Shop scheme, allowing registered Brompton owners to leave their Brompton’s securely in store whilst they shop.
The Brompton press release said “The new unit is part of a broader brand partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield that will see Brompton access Westfield London’s digital media screen network and provide content for the destination’s social media platforms, to promote the brand and the flagship store to a wider audience”.
Brompton say that they currently hold a 12% share of the hybrid/commuter sector of the bicycle market, up by 0.7% in 2018 and that they have seen a 7% sales increase from 2017 to 2018. These figures do not include sales for their e-bike.
Brompton is the largest bike manufacturers still producing bikes within the UK and in 2017 produced just under 45,000 bikes at their Greenford, London factory.
