BREDA, Netherlands (August 19) – Shortly after the decision to separate the bike division of Dutch Euretco from the mother company, the new Biretco is introducing its budget division. Named ‘Bonus Bikes’ the new formula will be a minimalist operation focused on the Dutch market. No fancy displays, no life-style brochures – no repair facilities, no trade-in, no pre-owned bikes: just the bare basics. Bonus Bikes will be a hard-franchise formula, selling sub-600 Euro bikes under, among others, the new Arriba private label. Affordable bikes, stripped of all luxury – but still complying with all legal warranty requirements. The first Bonus Bikes shops are to be opened this year and the new formula intends to grow into a total of 85 shops in Holland.(MH)
