VEENENDAAL, Netherlands –(April 12) – Despite a growing number of outlets, Halfords Netherlands has hardly grown in turnover. In Belgium the results were virtually the same. The recently published year-report of Halfords NL parent company, MacIntosh Retail Group, states that Halfords a fractional higher turnover in Holland, due to 3 new stores and the addition of some new product groups. Halfords has 140 shops in Holland and 9 in Belgium. Next to bicycles and bicycle products the shops also sell car parts and accessories.
The report further say that despite lower results, Halfords has again made a substantial contribution to the overall result of the MacIntosh retail Group. The results of Halfords Belgium are described a slightly positive.

The report does not mention specific turnover figures for Halfords Holland and Belgium. The chain forms part of the Automotive and telecom division of MacIntosh which had a turnover of €276.3 million in 2004 (2003: €253.3 million). It is estimated that Halfords sell some 120.000 bicycles annually in Holland. Overall the MacIntosh group managed to realise a 3.1% growth in turnover, from € 781.2 million to € 805.5 million, despite the bad market conditions. This was due to growth in turnover (+1.5%) as well as expansion. In all sectors (next to Automotive and Telecom also Living and Fashion) a higher market share was realised, with the exception of clothing.
