Middle East & Taiwan Are Decathlon’s New Growth Markets
BEIRUT, Lebanon – Decathlon found new markets to expand its sports retail activities in the Middle East. The next shop to open is located in Beirut, Lebanon a joint project with Decathlon’s franchise partner Azadea.
In previous years, Azadea already opened a Decathlon store in Dubai. Décathlon has another franchised store in the region in Kuwait City.
Azadea Group Holding is a retail holding company based in Beirut operating in various sectors. It is the regional partner for several other brands, among which Zara, Gap, Mango, Promod and Pimkie.
Starting in Taiwan
Decathlon also entered the growing Taiwan sports market via a new 7,000 square meter outlet in Taichung. This store was opened last summer. Taichung is also the base of Decathlon’s local office which is in charge of the design and manufacture of private label products.
In June Decathlon’s parent company Oxylane opened a 900-square-meter store in Shanghai for its discount brand, Koodza. The total store count of the French sporting goods retail giant now stands at 681 locations around the world.
