ETRA and Partners Launch E-bike Training Project
The Twowheel Innovation Network (TWIN) will develop European training for e-bike dealers and their mechanics.

In the new project, called Twowheel Innovation Network (TWIN), the consortium will develop European trainings for e-bike dealers and their mechanics. In a first phase, the partners will work on a tool that will allow any training institute in Europe to assess the existing knowledge on electric bicycles of dealers and mechanics.

Professional competences

The consortium also intends to set up a certification for the dealers and mechanics who successfully complete the training. This will allow them to advertise their professional competences in the field of e-bikes to consumers.

The project is a direct result of the e-bike partnership which is aimed at making an inventory of existing training and developing a competence profile in the field of e-bikes for dealers and mechanics. The e-bike partnership project finishes this year and by that time, the competence profile will be completed.

Workshop for training institutes

ETRA will mainly be responsible for setting up contacts with training institutes throughout Europe and for disseminating the project results. Towards the end of the project, a workshop for all European training institutes will be organized to demonstrate the assessment tool and present the e-bike courses that could be developed by then.

Earlier in the project a first try-out of the tool and the training material will be carried out in cooperation with Czech EKOLO.CZ and Lithuanian Vilnius Jerusalem Labour Market Training Centre. They participate in the e-bike partnership projects as partners in the process of developing and implementing training.

If the European Union grants the financial support to the project, the actual work is expected to start in October 2013. The project would run for two years.
