Stringent Regulations on Airlifting Lithium Batteries

HOUSTON, USA – Shipping lithium e-bike batteries, or complete e-bikes including batteries from Asia to Europa and the US have become commonplace in the bicycle business. To provide safe transport of the lithium batteries International Air Transport Association (IATA) developed a new set of air transport regulations that become effective 1 January 2013.

In addition, IATA organizes a 2-day lithium battery workshop in Houston, USA on 6 – 7 November 2012. This workshop will be of interest to everybody involved in shipping and manufacturing lithium batteries. The workshop will look at the changes to the air transport regulations as well as the new and revised requirements for testing of lithium cells and batteries contained in Amendment 1 to the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria.
