At this moment it is unknown whether the recall is being extended to Europe. This recall includes Spyre and Spyre SLC dual-piston mechanical disc brake callipers sold as OEM and aftermarket equipment in 2013.

Spyre callipers have a black anodized calliper body and a silver actuator arm. Spyre SLC callipers have a polished aluminium calliper body and a black composite actuator arm.

OEM and AM product

The recalled callipers have a fastening screw with a hollow six-pointed star-shaped head with no markings on it and a 3 millimetre pad adjust screw on the outward side. The recalled callipers were also sold as original equipment on bicycles manufactured or distributed by BTI, Diamond Back Bicycles, Giant Bicycles, Hans Johnson Co (HJC), Kona, Marin Bikes, Quality Bicycle Products, Raleigh America Inc. and Volagi Cycles.

Both models were sold with 140 millimetre or 160 millimetre rotors. The products were sold from April 2013 to December 2013.

Consumers should immediately stop riding bikes equipped with the recalled brake callipers and return the callipers to the original place of purchase or Tektro USA/TRP for a free replacement with an improved version.
