UCI Opens Door on Road Disc Brakes

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Prior to the opening of the 2014 Taipei Int’l Cycle Show, the World Federation for the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) met to discuss the situation regarding the usage of road disc brakes at the Pro Tour races.

The meeting was with the new technical consultant for the UCI, Dimitris Katsanis. According to the WFSGI, which held a public meeting at Taipei Cycle, the UCI showed openness to this topic.

New era on collaboration

The WGSGI even reported that, “A new era on the collaboration with the UCI has started. We got a positive reaction from the UCI consultant.”

The representative for the bicycle industry in the WFSGI Board of Directors, Jeroen Snijders Blok (COO Accell Group), said, “As an industry we knocked many times on the UCI door, but that door stayed firmly closed. Now they opened that door.”
