SRAM XX1 Only One of a Kind
The SRAM XX1 groupset was developed with the philosophy of making the drivetrain simpler, lighter, and more durable. XX1’s success has seen the market rapidly picking it up.
The introduction of a single-ring, carbon crank raised some eyebrows, as the market was used to more gears, not a reduction. Still these arguments were quickly set aside, as the XX1 delivers flawless chain management and faster, more precise shifting, thanks to the single front chainwheel.
As well, the XX1 also features the X-Horizon rear derailleur with Type-2 technology and the wide range 11-speed 10-42T cassette. Ranging from 10- to 42-teeth, the 11-speed X-Dome delivers a wide gear range while maintaining even, optimized steps.
The X-Dome is machined from a single piece of billet steel and has an open structure, giving better mud clearance, less weight, cleaner shifting performance, and longer component life. The cassette features 11-speeds (10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-36-42). The new XD cassette driver body design lets the drivetrain use a 10 tooth small cog, while providing better interface across the entire cassette. The bearing design and ratchet mechanism of the XD driver body is designed for a more stable hub connection.
Consumer can tune gear range
Developed for maximum chain control, each chain wheel’s tooth’s thickness is precisely CNC-machined to support the chain’s inner and outer links perfectly. It comes with six different chain rings (28-30-32-34-36-38) to allow the consumer to tune the gear range to match their preferences, wheel size, and his or her riding style.
Each chain ring fits a single, universal spider. This allows changing the rings without removing the light-weight carbon crank arm. The single speed crank comes with a BB30. Besides serious weight savings, this bottom bracket means narrow Q-factor, more ankle clearance, greater bearing durability and stronger crank construction.
With its ‘horizontal parallelogram’ design and pulley offset, the X-Horizon rear derailleur keeps the chain gap constant across all 11 gears. By limiting all movement to the horizontal axis, this design is faster and it reduces shift force. Finally the Cage Lock provides an easy wheel removal and installation.
