On the first day of 2012 German e-commerce company Internetstores AG announced the take-over of Fixie Inc. On November 23 this icon single-speed brand announed to cease its operations by the end of 2011 due to disappointing sales.

ESSLINGEN, Germany – On the first day of 2012 German e-commerce company Internetstores AG announced the take-over of Fixie Inc. On November 23 this icon single-speed brand announed to cease its operations by the end of 2011 due to disappointing sales.

Internetstores AG will now sell the remaining Fixie stock through Fahrrad.de; Brügelmann and several ‘Bikester’ shops in neighbouring countries. The Esslingen-based company also announced that after selling the stock they will introduce a new Fixie 2012/2013 range. The new Fixie collection is said to be, “as stylish and with the same high-quality as all previous Fixie models.”

End of 2011 the and single-speed brand from Karlsruhe, Germany ceased operations. According to Fixie Inc. founders and GM’s Recep Yesil and Holger Patzelt the major reason for the closure was, “Because we have not been able to reach the sales level and critical mass that justifies our operation and big personal efforts.”
