SRAM Takes Next Step in Road Race
CHICAGO, USA – SRAM took the long awaited step into 11 speed for road race in combination with hydraulic road brake systems.
The 11 speed comes in the Red and Force group sets. According to SRAM the additional gear was the only improvement missing on the Red and Force groupsets launched in 2012. It already had many features and was fast, light, aerodynamic, ergonomic, near-silent, and, of course, trim-less, with the new Yaw technology.
The 11 speed version launched this week weighs the same as the ‘old’ groupset. The average retail price for the Red groupset, available in next July is €2.328 and €1.207 for the Force. This one will be on the market in August.
SRAM’s second major product development is the hydraulic brake system for road race, which comes in multiple applications. The Avid hydraulic technology comes in a rim as well as a disc brake version. The average retail price of the complete Red disc brakes set, which includes shift/brake hydraulic levers, hoses and calipers, is €998.
Besides the new 11 speed Red version, the hydraulic rim and disc brakes will also be available for the existing 10 speed Red, Force, Rival and Apex groupsets.
