Schwalbe Super Gravity Goes for Patent
REICHSHOF, Germany – Schwalbe offers a range of 4 Super Gravity mountain bike tires with special construction of the carcass. It was first introduced with Hans Dampf in 2012 and it features a special double carcass construction.
This carcass overlaps on the sidewalls and not under the cap as is usual, a technique for which Schwalbe filed a patent. In this way they only have two layers under the cap instead of two overlapping, which means a weight savings of 700 grams compared to a standard downhill tire.
The sidewalls remain rugged and they are also protected with SnakeSkin. The range includes the new models Magic Mary, Dirty Dan, and Rock Razor. Also, new is the Thunder Burt (26, 27.5 and 29 inch), the company’s fastest XC tire for dry conditions. It features a 127 TPI carcass and weights 400 grams, but the real advantage is in the low rolling resistance.
