Shimano Takes Bike Parts Sales in Italy in Own Hands
MILANO, Italy – Shimano has stopped its long lasting cooperation with M.I.C. S.p.A and Amedeo Colombo for the sales of bike parts in Italy. The distribution of Shimano fishing tackle will continue to be handled by M.I.C. S.p.A.
Yesterday Shimano announced it will start its own bike office in Italy from the 1st of July 2014. The new established company will be located in Milano area. The office will handle Shimano’s sales, marketing and service activities in Italy for their bike related products.
Shimano Italy Bicycle Components SRL is aiming for an organization with around 25 employees who will work dedicated on bike related products. The structure and activities will be the same as the existing Shimano sales offices like Shimano Benelux, Shimano Scandic, Shimano Poland, Shimano France and Shimano Turkey.
Goodbye after 30 years
M.I.C. S.p.A. has distributed Shimano’s products in Italy since 1979. President of Shimano Europe Holding, Marc van Rooij: “I would like to thank M.I.C. and Amedeo Colombo and his family for their long term cooperation. We have been working together for a very long time to represent Shimano in Italy. However, some differences in vision and strategy for future developments brought us to take the decision to open our own office.”
Shimano Europe has a long lasting joint venture company with M.I.C. for the distribution of fishing tackle gear in the Italian market that will not be affected by this initiative of Shimano.
