Steady Sales Growth for Decathlon

VILLENEUVE D’ASCQ, France – For 2013 Decathlon owner Oxylane reports a like-for-like sales increase for their Decathlon stores of 1.3% (1.3% in 2012). Including its subsidiaries Oxylane achieved a turnover of 7.4 billion euros, an increase of 6.1% (7.2% in 2012).

Sales on Decathlon’s home market France went up by 1.4% performing better than the overall French sporting goods market, which declined by approximately 1%. The French market still generated 41.8% of the company’s total turnover.

In 2013, no less than 74 new Decathlon stores were opened, compared with 58 in 2012. Following the opening last summer of the company’ first store in Bulgaria, Decathlon now operates stores in 20 different countries.

Of the 74 newly opened stores in 2013, 25 were in China, carrying the store total of Decathlon in this country to 76. Per December 31, 2013 Decathlon has 258 stores in France, 100 in Spain, 89 in Italy, 33 in Poland, 21 in Germany, 16 in Belgium, Brazil, Hungary and Russia.
