Bike Market in Germany Thrived in 2014
BERLIN, Germany – 2014 was not only a year during which the bike market in Germany recovered from a bad 2013; it was also a year that marked solid growth, for e-bikes in particular.
Close to 8% more bikes were sold in Germany last year. A total of 4.1 million bicycles and e-bikes were traded. The average value per sold bike was up to a record breaking 528 euro.
Of course expensive e-bikes are driving up the average value. In particular as the e-bike sector flourished. Sales were up by a big 17% as e-MTB’s proved to be very popular. In total some 480,000 electric bikes were sold in Germany in 2014. With that they reached a market share of 12%.
