Darfon’s European head office will handle the marketing, sales, service and distribution of its e-bike brands Votani and BESV. A service centre will be established in Heerde also in the Netherlands. “This country offers us more than access to Europe alone,” explains Andy Su.

“The Netherlands offers an excellent network of distributors and shops while the authorities have been very helpful as well. We also found a close alignment in terms of design and technology. Our bikes stand out thanks to the stylish designs, the use of top technology, and a good price to quality ratio.”

Close ties with Eindhoven

This vision was confirmed by Eelko Brinkhoff, head of Foreign Investments of the Brabant Development Agency (BOM). “Eindhoven has much to offer when it comes to industrial design and technology, like the Dutch Design Week and Technical University.”

Darfon’s decision to choose Eindhoven to establish its European head office is no coincidence. Its mother company BenQ has already been based in Eindhoven for some years, together with more than 65 other Taiwanese companies. As home town of multinational Philips, Taiwan’s electronic industry has had close ties with this city for some decades.

Global maker of laptop keyboards

Darfon supplies components to various major OEM/ODM IT manufacturers and it is a global manufacturing leader for laptop keyboards. The company has recently taken the step to the consumer market. It is using its expertise in the field of batteries, electronic components, and software to manufacturing electric bicycles.
