Riese & Müller Introduces the New Birdy
WEITERSTADT, Germany – Just in time for the Birdy’s 20th birthday, Riese & Müller introduces the third generation of its premium folding bike. “A streamlined model concept means a more distinct identity while a new and innovative range of colours and features makes the Birdy brighter and more versatile”, says Riese & Müller PR Manager Tobias Spindler.
Riese & Müller‘s managing directors and inventors of the Birdy, Heiko Müller and Markus Riese are delighted about the successful revamp of their cult bike. “A cool, fresh look, highly customizable, the new colours and features concept as well as the attractive pricing make the new Birdy the folding bike of choice”, says a Heiko Müller.
Markus Riese is equally enthusiastic: “In developing the new Birdy, we have looked at every single detail again. We have made nearly 100 improvements. Our main focus was to make the bike ‘stiffer, lighter and more compact’. We have achieved that and what’s emerged is the best Birdy ever.”
The Birdy will see a Europe-wide launch on 27 June. With a completely new model concept, customers can create their own individual Birdy. With four frame colours plus stylish and bright contrasting colours for grips and pedals, the Birdy can be given a highly individual look.
The Birdy has been fully overhauled and improved in many aspects without changing its essential characteristics. An optimized geometry along with a new and very stiff folding stem provides much improved steering. The new flowing organic form of the suspension pivots elegantly matches the monocoque main frame. Hydraulic disc brakes now come as standard on all models. The Birdy’s clever folding system remains the same: the folding mechanism is incorporated into the suspension system.
The new Birdy comes in four models with a wide range of accessories. Basically there are four models: the Birdy city, the Birdy dualdrive, the Birdy speed and the Birdy rohloff. The World Birdy remains available unchanged.
