De Rosa and Pininfarina Partner in 3D Printing
MILAN, Italy – Two traditional Italian companies, De Rosa and Pininfarina have joined forces to develop a new production technique which is called the ‘ultra-precision 3D printing process’.
“Passion and design are the keywords of our collaboration,” said Paolo Pininfarina, Group President of Pininfarina, at the presentation of the joined project.
“We want to present a bicycle that puts the heart into design, cutting-edge technology and all-round excellence, thanks to the joint efforts of the Turin-based Pininfarina design centre and our R&D laboratory,” added De Rosa managing director Cristiano De Rosa. “Form and function to meet the most demanding cyclists.”
Stiff and light weight
According to De Rosa, “The manufacturing process is highly technological and functional, using an ‘ultra-precision 3D printing process’ and ‘a special resin’. The result is a road race frame which is both as stiff and light weight as possible. Thanks to its design it is sleek, streamlined and designed to eliminate drag.”
The De Rosa SK Pininfarina racing bicycle is available in a variety of sizes and colours.
