Humpert Takes Next Step in E-Bike Components’ Integration
WICKEDE, Germany – “The next step in e-bike component integration is the display and handlebar shifter,” says Rolf Hacker of handle bar and stem manufacturer Humpert GmbH.
Until now the e-bike industry strongly focused on the integration of motor and battery in the frame of which many successful projects were shown at this year’s Eurobike for next model year. According to Rolf Hacker the 2017 Taichung Bike Week clearly showed that product managers are ready for the next step.
As specialist in ergonomic bicycle components, Humpert strongly promotes adjustable versions of its stems. “Fixed stems are good for the looks, the adjustable ones are better for the feeling,” explains Hacker. “Compare it with a car where you have so many options to adjust your seat and steering wheel. Why not offer these options on a bicycle?”
There are several options for display integration that are being studied on currently, most of them with an adjustable screen. To make it a real integrated system, also the cables from the shifter to the display must be invisible. Thanks to their leading position, these studies mainly focus on Bosch systems.
