At Eurobike Muhr and Bender KG, or Mubea Group, will launch this frame and drivetrain in combination with several other innovations on two ready-to-use e-concept bikes. “Unlike many other manufacturers, we rely on design and production in Europe,” said Martino Lupo. “Why? Because the potential of lightweight production of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) can only be achieved with a close coordination between engineering and manufacturing process. Therefore the high-quality lightweight CFRP frame was developed and made by Mubea Carbo Tech in Salzburg. The drivetrain manufactured at the company headquarters in Attendorn.”

Automotive technology

“The fully sealed Mubea drivetrain comes with some remarkable features like the top performance of up to 4 kW, traction-uninterrupted shifting under load, low maintenance thanks to oil lubrication, high level comfort and optimal control. Thanks to its compact size it is easy to integrate this pure automotive technology into bike frames.”

The self-developed drivetrain produced in Salzburg comes with the internal Effigear gearbox. Mubea E-Mobility has entered into a partnership with the French supplier of bicycle transmission systems. Most is according to project manager Martino, “Mubea E-Mobility is not a vehicle manufacturer. We are looking for partners in the bicycle industry with whom we want to develop vehicles that are ready for series production by Mubea close to the market in Europe.”

40 production locations

Mubea is a more than 100 years old family-operated business based in Northrhine-Westfalia, Germany generates an annual turn-over of 2.2 billion euro. It develops and produces innovative and high-loaded components for automotive chassis, bodies and powertrains at 40 locations around the globe. At this year’s Eurobike the lightweight expert will celebrate its entry into the e-mobility and e-bike component market.

Also for the 13,000 employees Mubea Group CEO Dr. Ing. Thomas Muhr’s announcement that the company would enter the e-bike components business came as a surprise. Muhr had sent out a team to study the potentials to develop own e-bike components. The team quickly found out that, “Mubea’s competences are the perfect basis for developing and producing e-bike components,” as the company reported in a press statement.
