Dutch Market Sees Double-Digit Turnover Growth at End of Selling Season

AMERSFOORT, the Netherlands – This year’s extremely good summer has contributed by no small means to the fact that players in the Dutch bicycle market can look back on an excellent sales season. Turnover-wise a double-digit growth is recorded up to August 31 with bicycle and e-bike sales euro growing even by more than 15 percent.

Dynamo Retail Group recorded the mentioned sales figures. This dealer cooperative operating shop formats like Bike Totaal, Dynamo Retail Service, Fietswereld and Profile de Fietsspecialist in Holland, Belgium and Germany, has some 800 affiliated dealers/members.

A recent Dynamo Retail Group market survey involving 291 Dutch stores revealed the following results with regard to sales during the 2018 season. Up to August 31 total turnover (on average) increased by 11.7 percent. Bicycle and e-bike sales in particular boosted the total turnover as this category grew by 15.5 percent in turnover. The second biggest turnover contributor was wages; meaning that the workshops at the affiliated Dynamo Retail Group dealers have had a busy season. For Parts & Accessories sales 2018 was also a great year as turnover in this category upped by 7.6 percent. The only category that lagged behind was bikewear in which turnover dropped ny 12.1 percent. The sale of second-hand bicycles recorded a 0.1 percent growth.
