Basil Unveils Fashionable and Functionable Rainwear for Cyclists
ULFT, the Netherlands – Basil launches innovative and stylish bicycle rainwear line. One of the major reasons why many people avoid cycling into work is the fear of getting caught in the rain. With Basil cycling rainwear, a selection of three new product lines, there’s nothing that will stop people from cycling, 365 days a year and regardless the weather. All items in the collection are breathable, waterproof and stylish.
“For the design of this new collection we focused on perfect fit, in combination with fashion and functionality,” explains Patrick Ebbeling, responsible for the new Basil cyclist rainwear collection. “The T-Fabric material used for manufacturing all items is as environmentally friendly as possible. This quality material hits high notes thanks to a fashionable matt finish and an appealing tactile feel. In addition to first-rate functionality, we sought to continue its reputation as a brand that understands trends by developing a rainwear line that doesn’t scrimp on style.”
“After all, nobody wants a one-size-fits-all approach,” explains Ebbeling. “We used beautiful matt fabric, subtle Scandinavian motifs, the stylish colours and elegantly integrated reflective elements.” The three lines launched by Basil include, the Hoga for comfort use, the Mosse for urban use and the Skane for active use. “The basic range Basil Hoga, still comes with a breathability rating of 5,000 MVP, with a waterproof rating of 5,000 WP. All items come with DWR coating, stretch panels, tone-on-tone reflective accents as well as a pouch.”
“The Mosse line has the same functionalities as the Hoga line, but is far more fashionable offering many option to choice from for those looking to cycle in style. There’s a Mosse raincoat to keep the downpour from drenching you, parkas and matching trousers for men and women, not to mention ponchos and an extremely stylish trench coat to consider.”
“The Basil Skane series has been specially developed for the commuter who demands the absolute best from their bicycle accessories. The T-Fabric is both 10,000 WP and 10,000 MVP, of the two-way stretch variety, lightweight and carries the independent Bluesign label to affirm its eco-friendly credentials. A unique feature is the adjustable hood that allows for the cyclist to wear a helmet under the hood itself or keep a more voluminous hairstyle safe during cycling.
Contrary to other Basil collections, the rainwear collection will be distributed more selectively. “A limited number of wholesalers per country will begin offering the line. This gives the cycling raingear the attention and focus it deserves,” said Basil CEO Marc Roelofsen. “We’re talking about the largest introduction ever for Basil. 133 new items have been added. That is why we’ve drawn up specific conditions for online and offline sales, allowing issues such as content, quality of customer contact and consumer experience are guaranteed.” The first items will be available from early December 2019.
