BARCHFELD, Germany - Wittkop GmbH, a subsidiary of the Büchel group took over the Italian saddle manufacturer Selle Esse, on May 1, 2021. With this takeover, the company aims to strengthen and expand saddle and saddle parts production in Germany, especially in Zella-Mehlis and Barchfeld in Thuringia, as well as in Bassano, Italy.

PARIS, France - To face the huge problem of bicycle theft in France, the French Government has, since January 1st, 2021, passed a law which imposes the mandatory marking of all new bikes sold in a store or on the Internet. This law will be extended to second-hand bikes sold in retail shops from July 1st.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Eurostat import figures for the first four months of 2020 clearly point to the fact that the impact of COVID-19 on e-bike imports in the EU-27 countries is limited to a small decline of less than 3%. Notwithstanding the supply chain constraints and even order cancellations, these latest statistics once again mark the importance of the e-bike for the industry.
