On April 23, the 'Right to Repair' directive was adopted by the European Parliament. The proposed law should encourage repair and reuse of defective devices instead of replacement, with the aim of minimising 'e-waste' caused by these devices. The guidelines that the EU will prescribe to its member states in the coming years are becoming increasingly clear: repair must become the standard for all electronic consumer goods, even after the legal guarantee period. What does this mean for the e-bike industry?

BRUSSELS, Belgium - In a final round of negotiations, the Council and the European Parliament finally reached an agreement on the Regulation establishing a framework to ensure a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, better known as the Critical Raw Materials Act. This regulation also impacts the "light transport equipment" or e-bikes according to category L.

SCHWEINFURT, Germany - During a recent meeting of the Dutch standardisation committee and European stakeholders, the completion of a standard for cargo bikes was discussed. "A European standard would be helpful to standardise the legal patchwork that exists throughout Europe," explains velotech.de MD Marco Brust.
