Things are moving in the UK with regard to e-bikes. But the volume is still far from the great promise that one of the biggest markets of Europe holds.

COLOGNE, Germany - Europe's bicycle buyers powerhouse Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft eG - better known as ZEG - is stepping through its wholly owned subsidiary Eurorad Deutschland GmbH into the tourist business. Under the brand name Travelbike ZEG claims to create, "The largest rental network for e-bikes."

HANNOVER, Germany - To improve the everyday suitability of electrically powered cargo bikes in particular, Continental developed the CDS cargo product line. This product line is made up of an aluminum/stainless steel 12 millimetre sprocket and a carbon belt.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The annual market survey by the Velofollies cycle show indicate a sales increase on IBD level of 3% to 450,000 units in 2015. Just like in 2014, the 3% expansion is the result of the popularity of the e-bike.

AMSTELVEEN, The Netherlands - Again and again it surprises even the insiders of the Dutch market; how the sale of electric bikes keeps progressing in a marketplace where for years already e-bikes are THE number one trend. Contrary to expectations there's no question what so ever of saturation. In September sales again upped 12% resulting in an unprecedented high average sales price for bicycles.

MADRID, Spain - Close to 1.1 million bikes were sold in Spain last year. According to the 'Bicycle 2014' study by AMBE, the national association of manufacturers, importers and distributors in Spain, the number represented a 5.2% growth in unit sales. Consumption of cycling products grew bigger and even outperformed sales of all other sports categories.

AMSTELVEEN, the Netherlands - The age group 25-34 made up a bigger portion of all e-bike customers in the Netherlands in 2023 compared with 2022. In Germany e-bikes enjoyed a growing popularity among women and one-person households. These are just two of the findings of the annual e-bike monitor by market research institute GfK.

NUNSPEET, the Netherlands - High inventory level continues to be troublesome for the once successful Dutch e-bike brand Stella E-bikes. Investor DM Equity Partners, who previously held a 35% stake has seized power at the e-bike manufacturer and obtained a majority of the shares.

LONDON, England - Lavoie, the e-scooter unit of British Formula One engineering and technology firm McLaren Applied, has agreed to buy bankrupt Dutch e-bike brand VanMoof, Reuters is reporting today. The new buyer states that it plans to invest in stabilising and expanding the business. This includes a switch to using third party retailers.

HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands - Accell Group's 2022 financial report is a remarkable indication of the huge change in the industry from shortage to oversupply. In the second half of 2022 the value of the inventory hiked by 70% to €936 million. Pre-pandemic this value hovered between €300 million and €350 million.
