WELS, Austria - The winding down of the bicycle activities by Pierer Mobility is progressing much faster than planned. This was reported in the 2025 half-year results of Pierer Mobility. The financial performance of the company was significantly influenced by the restructuring proceedings of the company's KTM AG motorcycle division as announced at the start of 2025.

SHIZUOKA, Japan - The situation for the Japanese bicycle industry becomes even more challenging now that sales and production numbers for 2024 have turned out to be lower again for the consecutive year. For the first time in decades, domestic production fell below the 700,000 unit mark. Import volumes saw single-digit growth, but remained below the 5 million unit mark.

OSAKA, Japan - The impact of the shift in trade policies announced earlier this year on the financial performance of the bicycle industry was not long in coming. As the main OEM supplier, Shimano reports a shift in trade flows and notes that the outlook remains uncertain due to the impact of global trade policies.

"This vote aligns with our position and marks a significant step toward a more coherent and efficient regulatory framework for the e-bike sector," writes industry confederation CONEBI in a first response.

FRANKFURT, Germany - Taiwanese IT company, OKGO has developed a cloud-based, full-service platform to support the development of a smarter e-bike industry. Additionally, the company recognises that digital solutions are evolving from 'nice to have' to 'need to have' as more regulations come into play. On display at Eurobike, the company debuted its fully compliant Battery Passport solution developed in collaboration with Chinese battery manufacturer Greenway.
