YPRES, Belgium - Cycling industry entrepreneur Filip Carpentier passed away last Sunday. At the age of 47 Filip already held a long track record in the bicycle industry as a distributor as well as wholesaler. In 2015 he acquired the Belgium bicycle factory Minerva.

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Pon Holdings has announced that Peter Woods is step down as President and CEO of the recently acquired Dorel Sports. The decision is in mutual agreement and effectively immediately.

OLDENBURG, Germany - Cycle Union's sales, marketing and product managing director Frank Aeschbacher has taken up a new position at mother company Prophete Group. Aeschbacher succeeds Dirk Vroomen and is now responsible for all sales, marketing and product management of Prophete Group.

KOBLENZ, Germany - An unexpected change in leadership at online seller Canyon with the announcement that CEO Armin Landgraf will leave his position on short notice. On 1 October current CFO Winfried Rapp will take over Landgraf's management on an interim basis.

SUZHOU, China - E-scooters and e-motorcycles are a common means of transportation in China, with more than 30 million units being sold there last year. But these products have not been popularized in the European market. Chinese e-bike battery manufacturer Phylion, predicts this will change in the next 5-10 years. 

POZZOLEONE, Italy - Nicola Rosin is leaving Selle Royal S.p.A. as the company announced Wednesday afternoon. Since 2012, Rosin has been General Manager and a Board Member. Selle Royal saddle brand, Fizik, Brooks England, Crankbrothers, and Pedaled are all part of the Selle Royal Group.

HARD, Austria - In the past five years the Austrian manufacturer Simplon increased its turn-over from €18 million to €44 million at the end of fiscal year in September 2020. For model year 2021, Simplon reports an increased order intake of more than 40% compared with model year 2020.

GENEVA, Switzerland - The members of the World Bicycle Industry Association (WBIA) have agreed that the WBIA Secretariat will continue to be managed by CONEBI in 2021. During their annual General Assembly last Wednesday, they also confirmed that current president of CONEBI Erhard Büchel will act as president of WBIA for the next year.

Other news on Accell Group is that it appears to be ending the rejuvenation process of its management. One of the last members of the holding company's 'old' senior management team said 'goodbye' on August 1. The departure of Global Retail Director Wouter Jager was preceded by many of his management colleagues.

CHICAGO, USA - SRAM announces that Stan Day steps down as CEO of SRAM LLC per January 1, 2019. Ken Lousberg has been appointed as his successor. He was COO of SRAM for the past 18 months. Day will continue to be Chairman of the Board of Directors.
