TAIPEI, Taiwan – The character of the Taipei International Cycle Show, which took place from March 16 – 19, is slowly but clearly shifting to the most important platform for European and American countries to launch their brands into Asia.
For the first time the People’s Republic of China (PRC), including Hong Kong, was the largest by number of all overseas visitors. It was followed by Japan, the USA, Korea and Germany. Among the top five countries, three of them are Asian.
Meanwhile the earthquake and other events in Japan made many visitors from Japan and German cancel their trips. As a result, the number of visitors from these two areas dropped by about 18% (Japan) and 22 % (Germany).
According to organizer TAITRA the Taipei Cycle Show attracted a record 5,701 international visitors. That is up 10.5% compared to last year. This 24th edition of the show hosted 948 companies, a growth of 6% compared to last year. These vendors used 3,060 booths, an increase of 1.4%. The show welcomed several exhibitors for the first time like Saint Gobain and Robert Bosch.
The next edition of the Taipei Cycle Show will run from March 7 to 10, 2012 at the Nangang Exhibition Hall. It will be held jointly with TaiSPO (Taipei International Sporting Goods Show), Taiwan International Diving and Water Sport Show and Taiwan International Sporting Wears and Accessories Show.
