New Business Opportunities at China Cycle
SHANGHAI, China – Next week, the 23th edition of the China Cycle Show at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre will open its doors. China Cycle is the official event of the China Bicycle Association.
The character of this event changed slowly but steadily over the years. The primary function of the China Int’l Bicycle & Motor Fair used to be the sourcing show for companies looking for bicycles as well as P&A in the low to mid-end price ranges.
Major growth market
This changed with the continued growth of the Chinese economy and the increased spending power for the average Chinese that unlocked the (huge) domestic bike market. For many bike companies from Europe, the US and not to forget Taiwan, China has become a major growth market.
Those who haven’t established distribution yet are now looking to get a foothold in China. Next to Western companies entering China, a growing number of Chinese e-bike manufacturers are looking for contacts with interesting new business partners from Europe, the US and South America. These continents are seen as emerging markets for e-bikes.
Export opportunities to China
Only thirteen years ago the first e-bikes hit the streets of the bigger Chinese cities and today sales have surged to about 30 million units annually. This huge market is slowly decreasing making a growing number of Chinese manufacturers to look for export opportunities.
The 23th edition of the China Int’l Bicycle & Motor Fair 2013 takes place from May 6 – 9. For more information: www.e-chinacycle.com
