Taichung Bike Week to Reflect Difficult US Market?
TAICHUNG, Taiwan – The ‘no-frills industry-exclusive show for OEM suppliers to meet with global customers’, the Taichung Bike Week will open its door next week Tuesday on 18 October in four hotels in the city of Taichung.
In the past years this event saw an ever growing number of participants and visitors thanks to the low-profile opportunity for suppliers and product managers to discuss future product specifications. However the 2016 edition might be completely different from previous edition thanks to the slow market in the US.
At Interbike last September is US dealers talked about extreme sales pressure especially from suppliers’ side. Their warehouses still seem to be packed. Interbike also reported a drop in the number of visitor by 10 to 12 percent compared to last year, while the occupied exhibition space was down by 8 percent. Without doubt this will affect the mood at the upcoming Taichung Bike Week as there are no indication that the US market will recover next year.
The well-known hotels which have housed the Taichung Bike Week in the past years, the Tempus, the Evergreen, the Splendor and the Millenium Vee proved to be insufficient to facilitate the required space for all exhibitors after last year’s successful edition. For that reason another location in Taichung, the Lin hotel has been added to the list. According to the website of the show organization 34 exhibitors can be found in the Lin hotel next week.
