Interbike Eliminates Consumer Day and Focuses on Trade

Shows & Events

LAS VEGAS, USA – A crowd-funding area called ‘the Incubator’ and a ‘New Product Showcase’ area are some of the initiatives for the 2017 Interbike. After three editions Interbike also announced that it is eliminating its consumer day which saw moderate attendance.

Interbike Eliminates Consumer Day and Focuses on Trade
“Our goal with The Incubator is to get these products and their creators in front of our audience.”

The Incubator, will feature the latest cycling-related innovations from creators on crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter. “Our goal with The Incubator is to get these products and their creators in front of our audience and hopefully help launch their products and brands,” said Justin Gottlieb, PR & Communications Director for Interbike.

‘Do more for creators’

“Brands like Revolights and Lumos, which were both Kickstarter products, have now gone to the next level and I do like to think we played a part in those success stories. We want to do that for more creators and their products.” Interbike is working with Kickstarter to promote the area to its creators, which will feature a simple, turn-key booth solution to make the investment as economical as possible.

The New Product Showcase area in the very front of the hall will allow companies the opportunity to showcase one new product innovation in the highest traffic area in the show. Exhibitors can use this area to drive attendees to their booths for more details and to see other products.

End of consumer day

The Customer Appreciation (consumer-access) Day proved to be less successful than expected. “We now realize that getting significant turnout to fly to Las Vegas during the week is extremely difficult and that we are better served going back to the old format and making it a trade-only event,” said Interbike Vice President Pat Hus. “If we can come up with another way to do it in our new home, we will re-visit the concept.”

Focus E-Bike Challenge

The annual cyclocross event CrossVegas will host the Focus E-Bike Challenge for the first time this year. The new e-bike fun race will be held on the famous CrossVegas course next September 20. 15 lucky entrants will ride a Focus e-whip for the race.

“We are looking forward to mixing in a little fun with our newest line of e-bikes this year,” said Andreas Krajewski, senior brand manager for Focus. “It fits in with the festival atmosphere CrossVegas is known for. In addition to the E-Bike Challenge, the CrossVegas venue will include an e-bike demo course featuring the Focus Bold2 and Jam2 e-mountain bikes. Spectators at the race can test bikes throughout the afternoon and evening.”

Interbike Outdoor Demo and Show take place from September 20 – 22, 2017.

CrossVegas is scheduled for September 20 at the Desert Breeze Soccer Complex in Las Vegas.
