Eurobike Announces to Return to September Dates in 2019
FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – Eurobike organizer Messe Friedrichshafen has decided to reschedule the 2019 show back to the original date: Wednesday, 4 September to Saturday, 7 September. “The request expressed by numerous market players to move Eurobike to a later date in future has received tremendous support both during and after the last show,” stated Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann.
Messe Friedrichshafen’s initial announcement a few days before the opening of Eurobike 2018 to move the show to late July, early August in 2019 sparked a lot of discussions on the show floor. Especially in the sense that the Eurobike organization with the early announcement and the addition that one can react flexibly to market wishes, indicated that another date could be possible. Probably this was the reason for many to spontaneously express their opinion to Bike Europe. These opinions made unanimously clear to disagree with the July 31 to August 3, 2019 schedule. Today’s announcement makes clear that Messe Friedrichshafen can indeed react flexible to market demand.
‘No ideal date that suits everyone’
Eurobike show manager Stefan Reisinger explained the rescheduling: “Compromises are not always the best solution. Although it is something that all players within the industry would like to see, we simply have to accept that there is no ideal date for a leading trade exhibition that suits everyone. Some insist one an early date while others support the later timing. Within the industry there are different trends which are firmly rooted. Even if we would be in the position to offer every exhibition format, there is no general solution. It is now certain that a date at the beginning of September is the best possible period for Eurobike 2019.”
The German bicycle industry association, ‘Zweirad Industrie Verband’ (ZIV) gives its full support to the Messe Friedrichshafen’s decision to adjust the timing of Eurobike once again. “The new Eurobike date is fully in line with the requests of our members,” said ZIV General Manager Siegfried Neuberger. “Furthermore, we are also picking up this opinion from other players in the industry.”
Shimano Europe President Marc van Rooij confirms the ZIV statement. “The decision of Messe Friedrichshafen to reschedule Eurobike to the first week of September 2019 and to reintroduce the successful public day is much appreciated and has our full support. We are already looking forward to next year’s Eurobike in Friedrichshafen.”
Consumers welcome again
In addition to the exclusive trade days from 4 to 6 September also the return of a consumer day received much support from the industry. On Saturday 7 September the doors will be open again for all cycling enthusiasts on the Festival Day.
Also numerous highlights for media representatives and expert conferences on the eve of the show will return next year on Tuesday, 3 September 2019.
Enabling journalists to test new products, the Eurobike Media Days will be taking place from 2 to 4 July 2019.
