Power with purpose: The independent strategy of Avinox
By combining rider-focused innovation with integrated engineering, Avinox is redefining e-bike performance.

The e-bike industry is moving at a rapid pace, and few brands have made as dramatic an entrance as Avinox. After making a strong debut at Eurobike 2024 with close ties to tech giant DJI, Avinox has taken a major step forward. By 2025, the transition was complete: Avinox became a fully independent, standalone business.

The DJI name has been removed from all products and assets, marking a powerful new era of independence for a brand that has already firmly established its presence in the global e-bike market.

This independence is not just a change in branding; it is a deliberate business strategy designed to accelerate growth. The market response has been rapid. In a short space of time, Avinox has grown its partnerships from 16 to more than 60 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) bicycle brands. By operating autonomously, the company can react dynamically to client needs, balancing technological updates with evolving market demands, and continue to build upon its successes, expand its market presence, and innovate within its field.

For us, maximum power is about empowering more riders to experience mountain biking in ways that are safer, more enjoyable, and more inclusive”

Engineered for every rider

At the heart of the company’s philosophy is a unique view on power. With the introduction of the new Avinox M2S system, which offers a major increase in power and torque compared to the previous M1, the brand is pushing technical boundaries. However, this high power is not about chasing higher speeds. Instead, it is about control, safety, and inclusivity.

Ferdinand Wolf, Avinox' product experience director, explains the core motivation behind this engineering focus: "For us, maximum power is about empowering more riders to experience mountain biking in ways that are safer, more enjoyable, and more inclusive."

Increased torque helps riders tackle steep uphill climbs without losing stamina, making the entire experience more enjoyable while allowing them to ride longer and overcome difficult terrain. By matching high power with high control, the system provides much greater stability and safety under extreme conditions. Furthermore, higher power limits help remove the physiological barriers often linked with mountain biking. This creates equity, making the sport accessible to riders of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels.

Complete system approach

Avinox understands that a high-performance motor cannot be developed in isolation. Delivering immense power in a lightweight, compact package requires an integrated engineering mindset. The brand looks at the entire bicycle platform to ensure that the frame design, tires, brakes, wheels, battery architecture, and software controls are carefully co-engineered to complement each other.

This seamless integration ensures that riders can use the maximum capability of the drive system without compromising on safety or reliability. Furthermore, the impressive power-to-weight ratio and fast-charging capabilities mean that OEMs have the creative freedom to customise the exact experience they want to deliver to their customers.

Technological innovation is in our DNA”

While the current customer base is heavily weighted toward eMTBs, Avinox sees its technology as a platform for the wider cycling community. Enhanced power is just as essential for non-eMTB scenarios. For example, urban commuters carrying daily bags or trail riders packing heavy cargo need strong power support when encountering steep city inclines or rough paths.

Next era of smart cycling

Looking to the future, Avinox predicts a strong trend toward enhanced electrification and digital connectivity. The boundaries between mountain riding and the daily commute are blurring, and software is becoming a vital part of the riding experience.

The new Avinox Ride App, which features heart rate integration and health management tools, is a clear example of this direction. The future will bring deeper interconnection between the bike and software, using data precision and multi-sensor technology that is common in the car industry but new to cycling.

As the industry faces discussions regarding regulations and power limits, Avinox advocates for a nuanced approach to management rather than simple restrictions that could stifle industry growth. The brand is committed to meeting all legal rules while continuing to focus on the diverse, personalised needs of riders.

Reflecting on how the brand will continue to shape the e-bike sector, Wolf notes: "Technological innovation is in our DNA. We see our market-leading technology as a platform from which to shape future discussion and development within the whole e-bike sector and not just one part of the cycling community."

By combining independent agility, system-level engineering, and a rider-first approach, Avinox is doing more than just building motors. It is redefining what an e-bike can do, proving that when technology is designed thoughtfully, more power truly means more opportunity for everyone.
