FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany - This morning, at the opening press conference for Eurobike 2015, the sales figures for Germany in the first half of this year were presented. Like in 2014 also this year the German bike sector has once again had an outstanding start to the current season.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Close to 7.7 million bicycles (excluding e-bikes) were imported into the EU with its 28 member states in 2014; up 4.0% on the total import of 2013. According to the latest data covering the first four months of this year imports are accelerating in 2015.

LUDHIANA, INDIA - Hero Cycles, India's biggest bike maker, has acquired a majority share in Avocet Sports; the Manchester, UK based importer and distributor of bikes, electric bicycles and P&A. With this take-over Hero meets its ambition to enter the European high-end markets.

BERN, Switzerland - The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) continues its successful series of WFSGI Manufacturers Forum's. On December 2-3, 2015 the WFSGI is again gathering the global sporting goods brands, including the makers of bicycles and components, apparel brands and their supplier factories.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The 5th Asia Bike Show, taking place from October 9 to 12 in Nanjing, China, will include a joint pavilion that hosts European P&A makers. It's organized by the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry CONEBI which is also behind the joint European booth at Taipei Cycle.

DENVER, USA - Gates Corporation, maker of the Gates Carbon Drive belt system for bikes, will introduce new high-mileage sprockets for expedition cyclists and global bike trekkers at Eurobike 2015. The CDX:EXP sprockets are designed for use with Rohloff hubs and offer extended range in abrasive off-road conditions.
