DIEREN, the Netherlands - In the run-up to the official opening of the new Gazelle facility by his Royal Highness King Willem Alexander Gazelle has put a third assembly line into operation. Including this line Gazelle is able to produce 1,000 electric bikes per day.

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - At last Friday's press conference on the mid-year financial results of Accell Group NV the holding company of numerous bike companies reported a 13% turnover growth. This double digit plus was thanked to higher e-bike and sports bike sales. In particular e-bikes and Haibike's new e-Performance bikes are pushing Accell's turnover made with e-bikes to new highs.

DUBLIN, Ireland - Allegion Plc is taking over Axa Stenman Holding; the Dutch maker of home security products as well as (ring)locks and lights for bikes which the company is selling on an OE and AM basis. Allegion is a US dollar 2 billion company selling security products in almost 130 countries including Kryptonite branded locks.

LAKE FOREST, USA - Tenneco Inc. announces its intention to discontinue its Marzocchi Mountainbike and motorcycle fork suspension business and to liquidate its Marzocchi operations. According to Marzocchi's (Ride Performance Europe) OE sales manager Maarten Maes production is to continue to the end of this year and take-over discussions already started.

MACHECOUL, France - Intersport France is investing another 6 million euro in its Machecoul 'Manufacture Française du Cycle, MFC' bike factory. Two industrial plots are bought adjacent to the current facility where a logistics center will be built.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - On July 14th the members of the European Parliament's Transport and Tourism committee recommended to include the European Cyclists Federation's EU Roadmap for Cycling in the European Commission's Work Programme for 2016. It represents a major breakthrough for ECF's Cycling Industry Club main objective to get more people on bikes more often.
